For a very long time, it's been my dream to live in New Orleans - a city w/o equal, a city with such a claim on my heart. My goal is to have my own funky bakery catering to the wonderful artistic and non-conformist culture of New Orleans as well as edible tributes to the amazing architectural styles on offer. I have so many friends there, it's ludicrous that I'm still in Houston, but that's where I currently have my job.
So here it is, it's now 2011 and I'm finally doing it. I'm sending my resume' out to places in New Orleans to get a job (or jobs). A friend has graciously offered me her second bedroom and is accepting of my two cats. And then, once I'm settled into my job(s), then I'll know for sure what I can afford apartment-wise. But I'll be there. :) And in time for Mardi Gras (so help me!)
Now is the time when I need to seriously purge my belongings. Most of the remainder will need to go into storage until I can get my own digs. Many books are going to Half Price (I would donate to the VA, but the books I'm ditching are not quite general interest...LOL!). Some furniture will be offered for sale, but not the television or the antique bed/nightstand! The bookcases (three shelves including the base) are up for grabs.
So, this lil' blog will be chronicling the events leading up to and including the move and settling in and how the road to NOLA leads to the road to my future. Thanks for following. Laissez le bon temps rouler!!!
